On Thursday, 402 corona-infected patients were admitted to hospitals in Norway. This is the first time the number has passed 400. At the same time, there are only 44 intensive care patients.

The number of hospitalized people increased by 25 patients from the day before. It is the highest number of hospitalized patients since December 17, 2021, when there were 383 hospitalized corona patients in Norway.

Out of the total, 44 of the patients with COVID-19 are in intensive care, an increase of 9 from the day before. The corona patients in intensive care units make up 19.5% of all the country’s intensive care patients.

Of the corona patients in intensive care, 21 are on respirators, according to the Norwegian Directorate of Health’s overview on Thursday.

“Based on the high infection rates we have had earlier in February, it is not surprising that we now see some more admissions. The big difference from previous waves of infection is that significantly fewer people need intensive care and that the length of stay is shorter for most patients compared to 2021,” assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad told NTB.

“This means that the hospitalization figures are manageable for the hospitals, but we are, of course, closely following the development,” he emphasized.
