The companies that rent out electric scooters must pay Oslo Municipality NOK 7.7 million annually to be allowed to rent them in the city.

The requirement is part of the new rules that come into force in September, the newspaper Avisa Oslo writes.

The City of Oslo is announcing a new permit scheme to rent out electric scooters in the city.

The application deadline for the industry is set at August 15, and a maximum number of 8,000 electric scooters will be allowed in Oslo from September 1.

This first call period will apply from September 1 until March 31 next year.
