Almost 85% of Finns see Russia as a significant military threat. One year ago, around 60% said the same.

The invasion of Ukraine has had a clear impact on the Finns’ view of Russia, the newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet writes.

According to a survey by the Finnish think tank EVA, over 90% of Finns believe that Russia is an unstable dictatorship with expansive ambitions.

74% consider Russia an unreliable partner. One year ago, only 40% said the same.

The survey was conducted in early March, shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine.

It also shows that the Finns make a clear distinction between the Russian leaders and Russians in general.

“A clear majority think that the Russians are nice people and appreciate Russian culture,” EVA’s research director Ilkka Haavisto said.
