The new demand for a negative corona test on the border with Sweden led to multiple travelers from Denmark turning around and returning home on Tuesday morning.

At the Øresund Bridge, multiple travelers were denied entry to Sweden on Tuesday morning because they did not meet the new test requirements at the border.

“We have had quite a few rejections today, more than we had yesterday. 70-80 rejections since midnight,” Mats Berggren, head of the border police in the area, said.

All travelers to Sweden who are not Swedish citizens or who are residents in Sweden must show a negative corona test at the border that is not older than 48 hours.

The test requirement also applies to vaccinated people. Travelers who do not meet the test requirement are rejected at the border.

There are exceptions for commuters and students, but they must present proof, Berggren stated.
