The new water supply projects in Oslo may lead to the water and sewerage fee per household increasing to more than NOK 6,000 a year.

Calculations made by Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) based on figures from the water and sewerage department in Oslo Municipality show that the fee could increase from NOK 3,897 to well over NOK 6,000.

The new water supply is estimated to cost NOK 27 billion, but part two of the project is not yet quality assured.

The new water supply will be paid over 40 years, with a gradual tax increase towards 2028 and a reduction after that.

The Water and Sewerage Authority has calculated that the first part of the project will provide NOK 1,750 in increased fees in 2028.
