Nils Andreas Stensønes has been appointed new head of the Intelligence Service.

It was decided by the Minister of State on Friday, where the Rear Admiral was appointed Vice Admiral in the Navy and ordered in the position of new head of the E-service from the time the Ministry of Defense decides.

Stensønes takes over as intelligence chief from Lieutenant General Morten Haga Lunde.

The Ministry of Defense has announced a press conference at 12, where Minister of Defense Frank Bakke-Jensen (H) will present the new intelligence chief.

Stensønes has been commander of the Norwegian Navy since 2017. He thus gained a prominent role in the handling when the frigate Helge Ingstad sank in 2018.

He has had a long career in the Navy, and he graduated in the 1980s.
