On Sunday morning, 30 rockets were fired at the Jaroviv military base, northwest of Lviv, near the Polish border. Nine people are said to have been killed and 57 injured.

The information was announced by the governor of the Lviv region, Reuters reports, according to the news agency Ritzau.

For the past seven years, the base has been used as a training center. The United States has regularly sent instructors there to train Ukraine’s military, and NATO has also used the base for international exercises.

Just before 6 o’clock, several explosions were heard near the city. According to Ukrainian media, the plane alarm went off in a number of cities on Sunday, including in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, and Zhytomyr.
