None of the 53,000 employees in the City of Oslo are to be temporarily laid off, although large parts of city services are closed.

– “Oslo municipality has no plans to temporarily lay off employees. Initially, layoffs will only move expenses from the municipality to the state,” says City Councilor Raymond Johansen (Ap) to NTB.

As a rule, all employees will be working from a home office unless they have a socially critical role.

At the same time, employees in the municipality must be prepared to be used in areas where needs are greatest.

– “We have a close dialogue with union representatives, and focus on employees to ensure that we utilize the expertise and capacity in the municipality as best as possible,” says Johansen.
