In a letter to Fifa, five Nordic football associations demand more be done to safeguard basic human rights.

High-ranking representatives of the football associations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands have signed the letter, which is addressed to Fifa’s general secretary Fatma Samoura, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) writes.

The letter was sent to Fifa after Qatari authorities arrested two NRK journalists on Sunday in Doha.

In the letter, the federations referred to previous contacts with Fifa about the conditions in Qatar. They demand that Fifa “do what is necessary to live up to the promise to respect the fundamental and universal human rights” in Qatar.
