A police officer in his 30s charged with rape and abuse of power will appear in front of the Helgeland District Court on Monday. Eight women are victims in the case.

According to the indictment, the police officer allegedly used his position to have sexual intercourse with seven women over two years. He is charged with rape for two of these instances.

“He denies criminal guilt according to the indictment and looks forward to the case finally coming up (in court) so that he can defend himself against the accusations,” one of his two defenders, lawyer John Christian Elden, told NTB this weekend.

The case starts in the Helgeland District Court in Mo i Rana on Monday, and lasts until Friday, February 25.
