Mayor Hanne Opdan in Nordre Follo says that the Municipality expects more cases of the mutated coronavirus but that they believe that they have the outbreak under control.

On Monday morning, Nordre Follo was waiting for 250 new test results.

“We are waiting for all these tests on Monday morning… We fear and expect more positive tests with the mutated coronavirus,” Hanne Opdan (AP) told TV 2.

Everyone who is waiting for a test result in the Municipality is in quarantine.

“What we know as of now is that we have 74 cases of infection associated with this outbreak, and we believe that the outbreak is under control,” Opdan noted.

Outbreak

On Friday last week, the outbreak of the British variant of the coronavirus in Nordre Follo became national news.

The variant is up to 70% more contagious than the regular coronavirus, which is most common in Norway today.

To date, there have been 17 confirmed cases of the virus mutation.
