Two new subsidy schemes for volunteering with children and youth will ensure that the activities resume across the country, the government reported on Thursday.

The subsidy schemes are financed through unused funds from the pandemic year 2021, the Ministry of Culture and Gender Equality noted in a press release.

The NOK 24 million is managed by the National Council for Norway’s Children and Youth Organizations (LNU) and the Norwegian Music Council (NMR).

“Leisure activities are, along with school, the most important arena for meeting other peers with shared interests. Young people have, in particular, experienced more loneliness during the pandemic,” Minister of Culture and Gender Equality Anette Trettebergstuen (AP) said.
