Defense Minister Odd Roger Enoksen (SP) and his US counterpart Lloyd Austin have agreed on a roadmap for the further development of cooperation between the two countries’ special forces.

Enoksen met the US Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon in Washington on Tuesday afternoon.

The two also discussed the security situation in the High North. Norway is now taking the initiative for stronger coordination of allied activity in the High North, the government wrote in a press release on Wednesday.

Furthermore, the Norwegian government noted that increased Russian military activity is a cause for concern in both the United States and Norway.

“We must expect Russia to continue developing and testing new weapon systems in the north,” Enoksen said.

During the meeting in the Pentagon, Enoksen and Austin signed a so-called roadmap for further development of cooperation between the special forces in the two countries in areas that do not include international operations.
