Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide condemned the military coup in Myanmar.

“Norway condemns the coup in Myanmar,” Søreide said.

“We urge the military leaders to adhere to democratic norms and respect the outcome of the elections.

“Aung San Suu Kyi and other democratically elected politicians must be released,” she said.

Myanmar’s military took over the country in a coup after declaring a state of emergency, accusing Suu Kyi’s party of fraud over its election win.

Suu Kyi has not been seen since she was detained by the military, according to the BBC.
