With the eyes of NATO drawn toward the east and south, Norway makes a new attempt to draw attention to the north as well.
On Saturday afternoon Prime Minister Erna Solberg will be attending a debate on the future of NATO at Munich Security Conference.
Around 600 experts and managers will gather to discuss international security policy. NATO is experiencing major security challenges, both in the south and east, but Solberg is along with Foreign Minister Brende and Defence Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide trying to also draw attention northward in the discussions in Munich.
– The greater focus for the world community will naturally be on solutions in Syria and the Mediterranean, but it’s also important to include the work that needs to be donein the north, the northern flank and the Atlantic Ocean in the long-term defence planning of NATO , Solberg says to Norwegian press.
