Norway promised to give away five million of its vaccines in 2021 to support global work aimed at combating the corona pandemic. The goal has been reached.

This spring, Norway committed to sharing at least five million corona vaccines. More than five million Norwegian vaccine doses have now been shared with the international vaccine collaboration Covax, the government wrote in a press release on Wednesday.

1.5 million Norwegian vaccine doses were distributed mainly to African countries. In addition, Norway has donated 896,000 doses bilaterally in collaboration with the European Commission.

The government writes that the donations have not delayed the Norwegian vaccination program.
