So far in the pandemic, around 9.1 million PCR tests have been processed at Norwegian laboratories. In total, the testing has cost NOK 4.5 billion.

“With all the equipment, staffing, and analysis, each test has a price tag of NOK 500,” Assistant Health Director Espen Nakstad told P4.

“This means that Norway has probably spent around NOK 4.5 billion on PCR testing during the pandemic,” Nakstad added.

The expenses only apply to testing and analyses. Norwegian municipalities have also had large expenses for staffing at the test stations.
