Minister of Health Bent Høie announced that Norway would be tightening its anti-corona rules this week.

“The infection is spreading so fast, and tracking is so demanding, that we can’t see whether the measures from last week are sufficient,” Høie said.

“Therefore, there will be a new tightening (editor’s note: of the measures) this week,” he added.

New infection records

“If this development continues, the health service will fall down to its knees,” he warned, commenting on the increasing number of corona cases in recent days.

“Now it’s serious. In the last 24 hours, 700 new infection cases have been registered in Norway, and every day we wake up to new infection records,” Høie noted at Tuesday’s corona press conference.

He also pointed out that all Norwegian counties are now experiencing increased infection rates.
