Norway registers lowest number of organ donations in ten years

Last year, 95 organ donations by deceased donors were registered at Norwegian hospitals. That is the lowest number in ten years.

The 95 donations helped a total of 374 patients with a total of 404 life-saving organs, the Organ Donation Foundation stated in a press release on Wednesday.

“This may indicate that the awareness of organ donation has decreased somewhat at the donor hospitals, at the same time as COVID treatment and preparedness take up a lot of capacity and resources at the hospitals,” information manager Aleksander Sekowski stated.
