Norway has not yet decided whether it will send weapons to Ukraine, but the decision could be made shortly, the government announced.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) said that Norway would send military protection equipment to Ukraine. Støre emphasized that the action did not make Norway a party to the war. Ukraine has requested weapons.

Several European countries have decided to send weapons to Ukraine. Norway may also do so soon, State Secretary Eivind Vad Petersson (AP) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in Politisk kvarter on Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

“There were new meetings yesterday afternoon and evening, and we will have new meetings today. We have agreed to act quickly, but we don’t want to rush (it),” Petersson said.

On Monday morning, he noted that the assessment would be taken within the next few days. Petersson pointed out that there would be a change of line in Norwegian politics if Norway decided to send weapons to a country at war.
