The Armed Forces will ensure that all soldiers who need it receive free pads and tampons, newspaper Forsvarets forum writes.

“We will requisition it through the supply system, as we do with cocoa and shoe polish,” army chief Lars Lervik told the magazine.

For example, soldiers will get pads and tampons in the field, as is the case with food and other consumables.

“We have had a quick review of the case, and the Army will immediately initiate measures to ensure that pads and tampons are available to the soldiers in the garrison and field,” Lervik noted.

Satisfied with the decision

Chief workers’ representative at the Armed Forces Linnea Huseby Røbech is satisfied with the decision.

“This was the whole purpose. To shed light on this basic need that has been there. I feel that the management has been very involved,” she told the Armed Forces forum.

She emphasizes that the priority was that pads and tampons should be available, not free.

“The most important thing for us is supply in the field and that there are available when needed,” she said.
