Crown Prince Haakon says that everything went well with King Harald after his heart operation last Friday. He noted that his father hasn’t said anything about wanting to step down.

“I have not heard anything about that,” the Crown Prince said and laughed when he was asked if 83-year-old King Harald has considered stepping down after last week’s heart surgery.

“But it’s clear that he constantly has to adjust a little based on what he can do,” he added.

As the king is on sick leave for the rest of the month, Haakon is performing the king’s duties as Crown Prince Regent.

He thinks his temporary job is going well.

“You get a little restless”

“But first and foremost, I think it’s nice when the king is in good health,” he said.

The Crown Prince also complimented the doctors who operated his father.

“I know that this is an operation that is done hundreds of times a year. Those in the team that was in charge are very good.

“Still, you get a little restless, so I was happy when the doctor called and said that everything was going well and that he was recovering. It is a relief, of course, but there was relatively little risk with the operation,” he said.
