Some countries still require a valid corona certificate upon entry, even in places where the infection situation is under control. The corona certificate scheme should be dropped, according to the National Institute of Public Health (FHI).

“The European Commission has asked the countries to stop using corona certificates as soon as the situation allows. We believe it should happen as soon as possible,” chief physician Preben Aavitsland at the FHI told TV 2.

There’s no point in continuing using them since vaccinated people can be infected and can spread the disease, he said.

The use of corona certificates is modest when traveling between countries in Europe, according to assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad in the Norwegian Directorate of Health.

“Right now, there are few places where the scheme is used actively, almost only at large events,” he said.
