The ongoing wave of infection cases will probably reach its peak at the turn of the month or in early February, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) estimates.

The FHI also expects that the number of hospital admissions will start to decrease at this time, department director Line Vold at the FHI told the newspaper VG.

“In South Africa, they had a very rapid increase in infection, and then they got a fairly rapid decrease even after they passed the peak of infection,” Vold stated.

According to the FHI’s latest calculations of how the infection will develop in the future, fewer than 50,000 people should be infected with the current level of measures.
