Norway’s FHI: People over the age of 80 can get another booster dose

Norwegians who are 80 years or older can now get a new booster dose of the corona vaccine, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) announced on Wednesday.

There is no basis for giving a fourth dose to anyone over the age of 80, but individuals can make the decision to get the fourth dose if they want to, the FHI noted.

“As the offer of a vaccine to people aged 80 and older is not a general recommendation, there is no need for the municipalities to actively call people in for vaccination,” the FHI added.

The updated assessment is in line with the ECDC’s and the EMA’s assessments.

At the same time, the FHI requests that more people with weakened immune systems take a fourth dose. The people in this group are recommended to get the basic vaccination of three doses, as well as a booster dose after three months.
