The epidemic has passed its peak in Norway and shows a clearly declining trend, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) stated on Wednesday.
Although the epidemic has passed its peak, many hospitalizations of patients due to COVID-19 can still be expected in the next few weeks, especially in the older age groups, the FHI wrote in its weekly report.
“There will still be a significant burden on the health service as a result of many patients and high sickness absence,” the FHI noted.
It asked Norwegian municipalities to continue to follow the situation and be vigilant – especially when it comes to outbreaks in health institutions.
