Despite declining infection rates, Norwegian authorities will not consider removing the alcohol-serving ban before January 14, Minister of Health and Care Services Ingvild Kjerkol (AP) stated on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Minister of Health told TV 2 that no relief would be implemented before January 14.

“We will not implement relief until January 14. It is important that we see the effect of the measures we already put in place,” Kjerkol said.

The alcohol-serving ban was introduced on December 15 and has led to hundreds of layoffs in Norway’s restaurant and nightlife industry.
