Border and personal checks are being stepped up after the authorities tightened entry rules. The Home Guard will now assist the police in work along the Swedish border.

Civilian authorities do not have the resources to enforce the new measures.

Therefore, the Armed Forces have been asked to provide assistance.

The Home Guard will now help the police along the border with Sweden in Inland, Trøndelag, and Nordland, a press release revealed.

“The soldiers in the Home Guard already have good experience of establishing rapid support for the police in connection with border control in relation to COVID-19.

“The Home Guard contributed with border control from March to June earlier this year,” the press release stated.
