“Every summer, some children and young people experience that they are taken abroad and held against their will. This will probably also happen during this summer holiday, despite travel restrictions,” Minister of Education and Integration Guri Melby (V) said.

Melby and Minister for Children and Families Ropstad (KrF) sent a letter to municipalities on Wednesday to remind them of the need for extra preparedness during the summer holidays.

The letter has also been sent to various support services.

“Preventing young people from being taken abroad against their will is important and can help prevent the young person from being exposed to conditions that violate their rights or conditions that are punishable in Norway,” Melby said.
