King Harald and Queen Sonja received the first of two doses of the corona vaccine on Wednesday.

“The royal couple will receive the next vaccine in three weeks,” assistant communications manager Sven Gj. Gjeruldsen told news bureau NTB.

Princess Astrid was also vaccinated on Wednesday, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

The royal couple is in the risk group when it comes to the serious COVID-19 disease course.

Since the trio will receive the next dose in three weeks, they have received the Pfizer vaccine.

Quarantined after visit to Jordan

The Moderna vaccine, which arrived in Norway on Tuesday, is taken in two doses four weeks apart.

King Harald and Queen Sonja had to be quarantined after returning home from a state visit to Jordan just before Norway was shut down on March 12 last year.
