Minister of Labor and Social Inclusion Hadia Tajik (AP) has ordered the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to issue more fines, according to the newspapers Stavanger Aftenblad and E24.

“My order to the inspectors is that they should crack down hard on work environment crime. It should hurt to be a rogue actor who treats workers badly.

“Therefore, we’re allocating more money to carry out inspections, and I expect both the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to use the instruments they have,” Tajik said.

In a letter to the two supervision entities, she asked for more frequent use of fees and fines, more supervision, and increased penalties for rogue actors.
