The Norwegian Miss Universe participant Nora Emilie Nakken will travel to Israel even though the country closed its borders on Saturday night.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced on Saturday that the Israeli authorities have decided to close the borders to foreign tourists for the next two weeks as a result of the corona variant omicron.

One case of omicron has been confirmed in Israel so far, and another seven cases are being investigated. The country is the first to close its borders due to the new variant.

“The Israeli co-organizers of Miss Universe are running extra tests for COVID-19 in addition to the double vaccination that Nora has from Norway. The double vaccine has been approved by the Israeli infection control authorities and enables entry,” spokesman Knut Yrvin told the newspaper Extraavisen.

The Miss Universe final will take place in Eilat, Israel, on Monday, December 13.
