In recent days, criminals have used the telephone number of the Police Security Service (PST) to commit telephone fraud. The PST asks people to be careful.

“We point out that the telephone number of the PST has been misused to deceive people in recent days,” the PST wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

The fraud attempt involved the caller asking to be paid sums of money, information manager Martin Bernsen in the PST told the newspaper VG.

“They use the PST’s number to make it seem real, and of course, it is not real. If someone calls and asks for money, it is not the PST,” Bernsen said.

The PST is now working to stop the fraud attempts.

Last month, Økokrim’s telephone number was used to commit fraud.
