The Progress Party (FRP) wants the Corona Commission to investigate how the red-green government has handled the corona pandemic. “Obviously, this must be investigated,” Bård Hoksrud said on Tuesday.

“Of course, it is not easy to handle a pandemic, but the decisions that are made have major consequences. I think it is obvious that this must be investigated,” FRP’s health policy spokesperson Bård Hoksrud told NTB.

He pointed out that several of the measures the government has introduced have not been substantiated by professional councils.

“After all, it is a question of people’s freedom and jobs. Now I think the Corona Commission must investigate the pandemic management by the red-greens,” Hoksrud said.

Proposal

Via a proposal in the Norwegian parliament (Storting), the FRP now wants to ask the Corona Commission to review the pandemic management from October.

In January, the newspaper Aftenposten wrote that the Støre government’s pandemic handling would not be investigated by the Corona Commission, as the Commission has decided to set a deadline for its work – October 31, 2021.

Everything that has happened after this date will not be part of the investigation. The report is scheduled to be delivered in April.

“Measures should not be taken lightly. They affect both people and industry hard. Støre himself has said that the measures will not last a day longer than necessary. Yet, there are many indications that they have been quick to implement the measures while taking their time with relief. The measures must be proportional,” Hoksrud said.
