A majority in the leadership of the Socialist Left Party (SV) now supports giving weapons to Ukraine.

After the SV’s national party leadership meeting on March 2 voted against sending Norwegian weapons to Ukraine, a change in position has now materialized, according to the newspaper VG.

At a national board meeting on Thursday, there was a majority in favor of giving Norwegian weapons to Ukraine, but the leadership was divided.

SV leader Audun Lysbakken, who voted in favor, says weapons support can be crucial for Ukraine to be able to resist Putin’s aggression.

“The Ukrainians have the right to defend themselves, and it is now, first and foremost, their ability to do this that prevents Putin from carrying out his plans. Therefore, the SV has come to the conclusion that we can support Norway’s contribution,” Lysbakken said.

SV’s deputy leader Kirsti Bergstø voted against the proposal.

  1. Feed in more weapons and go with the flow … into a mass suicide holocaust that will make Jonestown Guyana 1978 nothing in comparison … Audun?

We instead need a Kåre Willoch with the backbone to stand up and call this down (like he did Alexander Vershbow that one day), while there may still be time to stop this tragedy from consuming our lives and loved ones too.
