In Oslo schools, teachers will be trained in dealing with violence and threats at work. The Socialist Left Party (SV) now asks the government to ensure that all school staff learns to deal with violent pupils.

Following an inspection of Oslo schools related to violence and threats against school staff, the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority has asked the Norwegian Education Agency to ensure that everyone who needs it receives training in dealing with violence and threats, the newspaper Dagsavisen writes.

SV believes that if Oslo schools have to provide training and courses to its employees, then all other municipalities should do the same.

“The very first thing that should be done is to start a dialogue to find out what kind of offer the municipalities around the country give teachers, and what needs to be done to ensure sufficiently good training in this,” education policy spokesperson in SV, Freddy André Øvstegård, said.
