The police investigation into the incident in which a Norwegian 18 year old attacked another man on Ios in Greece has ended. The young man is not charged with attempted murder.

According to TV 2, the Greek prosecutor’s office did not press charges against the 18 year old for attempted murder, but did set charges for serious bodily harm.

– It has a sentence of three years in prison, and all prison sentences up to three years are conditional in Greece. My client, of course, is relieved that the court believed that he did not try to kill someone, the 18 year old’s defense attorney Kim Gerdts told the channel.

Shortly after a violent incident at a hotel on the island of Ios this summer, the young Norwegian was suspected of injuring his friend with a broken bottle and then charged with attempted murder.

Had he been indicted for attempted murder, he would have risked prison sentences in Greece of between five and ten years.

The Norwegian 18 year old has repeatedly denied criminal charges for attempted murder.
