The Norwegian-Italian base jumper Alexander Polli died in an accident in France on Monday.

The 31-year-old base jumper crashed into a tree at 1500 meters altitude near the French alpine town of Chamonix on Monday, writes VG, citing newspaper Le Dauphine.

– We are familiar with the accident and are in contact with the French authorities through the embassy in Paris, says the communications consultant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Ane Haavardsdatter Lunde..

She confirms that Polli’s kin have been notified about the accident. 31-year-old Polli was a familiar figure within the extreme sports environment.
