The border check, introduced on March 16, could be continued and extended for another 90 days from May 15, according to a letter from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

In the letter to the EU, the Ministry writes that they want to extend border control on all Norwegian air, sea and land borders by 90 days from 15 May on the basis of Articles 25 and 27 of the Border Regulation.

“The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has reported via a letter to the EU so that we can continue after May 15 if we wish,” senior communications adviser Andreas Skjøld-Lorange tells VG.

Internal border control was last extended on April 15. Then the border control was extended for 20 new days.
