In a letter to Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (SP), the Norwegian Cabin Association requested electricity support for cabins in the same way as for private homes.

Following a survey of the very high electricity prices among 2,000 of its members, the Norwegian Cabin Association has sent a letter to Vedum asking whether the country’s 500,000 cabin owners have been overlooked or simply forgotten.

Trond G. Hagen of the Norwegian Cabin Association told the newspaper Nationen that the high electricity prices have hit many cabin owners hard and that they also need electricity support on an equal footing with owners of private homes.

“For very many people, this affects their personal finances so badly that they have serious problems, especially pensioners and many ordinary wage earners,” Hagen said.

The Norwegian Cabin Association believes that the government must soon come up with a support scheme for cabin owners with retroactive effect for December 2021.
