In August, the Norwegian Center for Information Security is launching a campaign to combat false news and online fraud.

The campaign is carried out on behalf of the Ministry of Justice and Emergency Preparedness, NorSIS wrote in a press release.

“Incorrect information about political issues and a much tougher debate climate in connection with the parliamentary election campaign make it extra important to point out that it’s important to be critical of sources.

“We want to increase awareness that social media can be used to disseminate manipulated information,” Minister of Justice and Emergency Management Monica Mæland (H) noted.

The campaign is carried out in collaboration with the police, the National Security Authority (NSM), and the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB).
