The Norwegian Directorate of Health will map out what kind of food offer the elderly have and how nursing homes and home care service follow up on their nutritional status.

Despite several individual studies, there is currently no national overview of the elderly’s diet, the Ministry of Health and Care Services wrote in an email to news bureau NTB.

“This will give us useful knowledge that makes it possible to come up with targeted measures.

“When older people lose weight, their health and quality of life often deteriorate, and they have an even greater need for health and care services. Everyone will benefit if we reverse this development,” Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie (H) said.
