45% of Norwegian municipalities report that the situation in nursing homes and care homes is challenging. The number of infection cases is now increasing at municipal institutions, according to the Norwegian Directorate of Health’s weekly report.

While 45% of the municipalities describe the situation as challenging, 55% describe their capacity as good. Only one municipality describes the situation as critical.

The capacity in nursing homes and other institutions has been somewhat reduced in the last week compared to the week before. At the same time, the number of infected people in nursing homes is increasing. Last week, 633 infection cases were registered at municipal institutions, compared with 468 the week before.

Some more municipalities consider the risk for the infection to overload health service capacity in the next one to three weeks to be “medium.” Six municipalities answered that the risk is high, compared to four municipalities the week before.
