Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H) thinks Joe Biden will be more predictable as president than Donald Trump.

Eriksen Søreide told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that she reckons that Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris will first and foremost spend much of their time next year dealing with domestic political problems in the wake of Donald Trump, rather than taking on a new role internationally.

“I think the next year in particular will be characterized by the United States wanting to take control of the pandemic and the economy, but at the same time that they will send signals that they want to take up international leadership again,” Ine Eriksen Søreide said.

“I do not think there is any doubt that there will be more predictability, but we have also experienced that there has been great interest in Norwegian views during this period, and we have had the opportunity to influence the policy that has been important for Norway,” she added.

“But at the same time, we see that Joe Biden and Kamla Harris have signaled very clearly that they want to be more predictable in meetings with their closest allies, and I think many will appreciate that,” Søreide concluded.
