The Norwegian government is on alert in case a majority of the British vote to leave the EU.

– This is an emergency situation and we have considered how this is going to turn out. The indirect effects are the one which are most important. In the short term, we know that the international banks and others have taken their precautions if there are no major currency fluctuations, said by Prime Minister Erna Solberg to TV 2.

Norwegian Bank and the Financial Supervisory Authority have also established systems to mitigate the possible risk of international currency fluctuation.

The Prime Minister is most afraid of the political consequences.
– I fear the risk for more nationalism and the rise in support for more extreme organizations. It means that we become more apart on the areas we need common solutions in Europe and if Europe becomes more disorganized it will impact the whole world, she said.

Foreign Minister Børge Brende (H) also afraid of a no-result in Brexit
– It’s going to cause anxiety during the first days if there answers are no and of course we have also thought through such a situation, said by Brende.
