Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) says he understands that people are impatient for society to reopen but notes that it must be done carefully.

“The infection is constantly declining, and we now have a better overview of the situation. I want to thank the population for the great patience,” Høie said.

“We can not take chances that could cause us to lose control,” the Minister of Health warned.

Høie referred to European countries that have opened up quickly and then closed down again after rising infection rates.

“I know that many people think this is very hard and that it is difficult to understand why we do not open up when the infection goes down. This is because it will make it even harder,” Høie noted.

The national measures that were introduced on January 18 will be continued until mid-February, the Ministry of Health and Care Services announced on Saturday morning.
