Children who are ill must stay home on Halloween, Minister of Health Ingvild Kjerkol (AP) emphasized on Thursday.

“You have to stay home if you are ill,” Kjerkol told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK). Halloween is one of the highlights of the year for many children in Norway.

“The Minister of Health does not encourage giving candy to kids. But Halloween has probably come to stay, and it is possible to make it safe and sensible, and I hope everyone does this weekend,” she added.

Kjerkol will hold her first corona press conference on Thursday, together with assistant health director Espen Nakstad and FHI chief Camilla Stoltenberg.
