Norwegian Health Minister: Lives will be lost if we lift anti-infection measures

On Wednesday, Minister of Health Bent Høie (H) attacked those who believe that the corona measures are too strict.

“If we lift infection measures, the hospitals will be overloaded and even affected by the infection.

“Then, once again, many patients who have other diseases will not receive treatment, controls, and follow-ups.

“Lives will be lost,” Høie said at Wednesday’s corona press conference.

Recently, there have been several appeals against strict corona measures.

Høie pointed out that an easing of the corona measures could result in more infections.

The Hammerfest case

In turn, that could lead to employees at the hospitals having to stay at home during local outbreaks, as was the case with the infection at the Hammerfest hospital.

“The situation is still demanding in Hammerfest. A total of 15 employees and three patients have tested positive, and more than 120 people have been quarantined,” Høie noted.

Several patients have now been sent to treatment elsewhere in the region.
