Norwegian health official: Before Oslo can open up again, infection must be reduced to summer levels

Assistant director of health Espen Rostrup Nakstad believes Oslo must register a clear decline in the number of infection cases for several weeks before the corona measures in the capital can be lifted.

“The (infection) level must be comparable to what we had in early August or lower.

“But it obviously depends on where the infection takes place and how much of the infection is detected, not just what the number is,” Nakstad told newspaper Aftenposten.

At the beginning of August, an average of 17 cases of infection were registered on a daily basis.

Three weeks

On Monday, 203 new corona cases were registered in Oslo.

The Oslo City Council expects to see the results of the new corona measures within three weeks.

However, since there have been several rounds of measures, Health Councilor Robert Steen (AP) hopes that the effects of some of the measures could be seen already this week.
