Assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad does not think there will be much relief when the government presents its new corona measures on Monday.

“We have recommended adjusting some of the measures, but there is probably not much room for relief as long as the infection rates do not decrease in Norway,” Nakstad told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

In the first week of January, the government introduced new measures to reduce the number of infection cases in Norway

Among other things, the government recommended avoiding visits, and a national alcohol serving ban was introduced.

New measures

The recommendations remain in force until January 18. On Monday, the government will announce new measures.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health does not see much room for relief in the strict measures introduced on January 4.

“We still hope that the infection trend will soon reverse so that the extra strict measures we have had since January 2 do not need to be maintained longer than necessary,” Nakstad concluded.
